Contents The course provides the basics of assessing the environmental impact of products and processes. The course describes:
- the main environmental indicators and frame the environmental status at world and national level.
- technologies, procedures and technological solutions for the mitigation of the environmental impact.
- technologies and processes for waste management and circular economy

Educational objectives The main objective of the course is to provide students with the regulatory context and technical tools to address the assessment of the environmental impact of products and processes.
The main knowledge acquired will be:
knowledge of environmental indicators;
knowledge of technologies, procedures and technological solutions for environmental impact mitigation, knowledge of technologies and processes for waste management and circular economy

Teaching methods The course is organized as follows:
- theoretical and practical lessons on all the course topics

Learning verification modality Oral test, during which the course topics and the paper produced by the candidate and assigned by the teacher in the initial phase of the course will be discussed.

Causes of climate change, future scenarios and external costs. Indicators correlated with climate change: radiative forcing e
comparison between anthropogenic and natural drivers. The CO2 equivalent and the
indicators related to it: carbon abtment cost, mitigation potential.

Carbon foot print, water foot print, ecological footprint, LCA. Examples
of calculation.
