Weijun YANG
Short Bio
Weijun Yang, now is studying in Materials Engineering at University of Perugia, Italy as a PhD student since November, 2013. During the graduate, he made efforts on the environmentally friendly wood plastic composites (WPC), which involved the design, synthesis, preparation, characterization and the final integration of the green sustainable windows in Northeast Forestry University, China, which have been successfully manufactured in factories and have been industrialized now. He also grasped the skills of properties characterization of the polymer composites such as fire retardancy, mechanical properties, thermal properties, crystalline property, creep behaviors, interface property etc. His present research topics concern the development and characterization of composite and nanocomposite materials. He is actually involved in the development of fire-retardant composite materials and high-performance composite materials based on biodegradable polymers and nano-sized biofillers. During the PhD period he will acquire more skills and competences for the development and characterization of composites and nanocomposites based on bio degradable polymeric matrices; he is principally skilled on the production of different nano-fillers and fillers reinforced composites (liquid molding techniques, single or twin screw extrusion, compression molding), and he will learn more techniques on the characterization of composites and nanocomposites in terms of: chemical structures by Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) and Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), mechanical properties (tensile, flexural, elongation at break, Young’s modulus, etc.), thermogravimetry (TG), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA), atomic force microscope (AFM), transmission electron microscope (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and fire retardant performance related characterization skills (UL94 and CONE).
